Explosive device Thrown at a Raymore, MO Police Car

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is searching for a suspect after someone threw an improvised explosive device at a Raymore police officer.

The ATF said around 12:30 p.m., someone driving eastbound on Missouri Highway 58 near Campbell Boulevard threw what authorities believe to be a small improvised explosive device (IED) at a Raymore Patrol Unit traveling in the opposite direction.

That device detonated on the pavement of the highway.

The officer was not injured, and the patrol unit was not damaged.

The ATF and Raymore Police are asking anyone who was in the area of 58 Highway and Campbell around 12:30 today, and who may have seen this incident, to call them at 1-888-ATF-BOMB.

A reward of $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrested and conviction in this case
